CicloSeal Bioadhesives

CicloSeal is developing a plastic-free, bio-based adhesive and heat-seal coating platform designed to remove hidden plastics from sustainable packaging. The project uses microbial protein fermentation to create high-performance adhesives that can replace conventional polymer-based systems used in paper cups, fruit labels, fibre trays, and flexible packaging. CicloSeal aims to deliver strong industrial bonding, rapid heat-seal capability, food-contact compatibility, and full alignment with emerging SUPD and PPWR regulations. The project will validate technical performance through optimisation of adhesion, coating-line compatibility, compostability, and certification pathways while preparing for pilot trials with industry partners. By supporting recycling, composting, biodegradation, and potential re-fermentation into new biomass, CicloSeal enables a fully circular “Make–Unmake–Remake” packaging model. Overall, the project seeks to establish CicloSeal as a next-generation adhesive technology for truly circular, fibre-based packaging systems.
